Anonymous asked: Hi Maggie, I'm an aspiring med student and I was thinking about neurosurgery as well. I read the question about you wanting to do it at first. and I was wondering how come everyone was talking you out of it? Is it a really hard specialty? Thanks!
Neurosurgery is a very hard field of medicine to go into, but it also takes a lot out of you. And everyone who was talking me out of it, knows me at a personal level. And as a neurosurgeon the residency hours are tough, and you’re always living at the hospital practically. Its like being married to your job. And I would love to have a family one day. One of the doctors I worked with for a bit told me ‘if neurourgery doesn’t turn you into an asshole, then nothing in life will’ it’s still a very interesting field to me so we will see what happens.

Hahaha booya!!! And I’m just sitting there like… That was wrong anyways ;)
honeylovesham asked: Can you please give me tips on studying? I am in college right now and I can't find the patience to study as much as I should.
Honestly, I have finals now and I’ve been forcing myself to study. Everyone has their own ways of motivation and it’s taken me a while to figure out how to do it. For me I ALWAYS end up procrastinating the week before and about 4 days before hand I sit myself down and force myself to study. And once you get into it, it’s actually a lot of fun. :)
just push hard! and remember what you’re striving for! Picturing my goal always helps motivate me to study and work hard so one day I can be a doctor and help impact peoples lives for the better! :)
iamlifestyle asked: I respect your ambitions, never give up okay!

intergalucticalfribsee asked: I've recently discovered the ahhhmazingness that is your blog >.< and oh golly gosh, it makes me a happy chappy as you seem to be ever so passionate about medicine and I'm learning from it haha. I myself wanted to be a doctor for 10 years of my life then my final year of high school came along and kind of destroyed my dreams so now I'm studying sport science and even though I love my course dearly, I do wish I was in medicine anyways I LOVE YOUR BLOG XD XD
thank you so much! :) Keep pushing and following your goals, and sports science is a lot of fun in itself! :) best of luck!
ihavefearstoo asked: hi Maggie, I know you have a bunch of followers so is there anyway you could post/sign this petition I made? it's to get the ban on gay men from donating blood reversed... it's still new and I need a lot of support to make any change, and you and your followers could deff help. this isn't spam or a virus I promise haha. anyway, here's the link: change. org/petitions/lift-the-ban-on-gay-men-from-donating-blood (just remove the space between change. and org) it only takes a minute to sign. Thanks!
Sorry it’s taken me so long to reply! But I have signed it!
There is such a shortage in blood these days, and honestly it makes a difference in saving lives! I personally don’t think it matters who you are or what you do as long as you are a healthy individual who is donating blood.
Blood banks should test the blood thoroughly to make sure it is free of any bacteria, diseases, etc. to transfuse to another individual. But certain protocols always stay, like the ban for people who lived in England from certain years due to the mad cow scare. But hopefully somethings can change.
BUT EVERYONE WHO IS HEALTHY ENOUGH SHOULD DONATE BLOOD, IT COULD HELP SAVE A LIFE! :)
